Molecular transduction in receptor-ligand systems by planar electromagnetic fields

چکیده
Abstract The coupling of a ligand with molecular receptor induces signal that travels through the receptor, reaching internal domain and triggering response cascade. In previous work on T-cell receptors their foreign antigens, we observed presence planar patterns able to generate electromagnetic fields within proteins. These planes showed coherent (synchronized) behavior, replicating immediately in intracellular which occurred extracellular as was coupled. present study, examined this transduction - capacity penetrate deep inside molecule induce response. We verified synchronized behavior diverse receptor-ligand systems. To appreciate diversity, four biochemically different systems TCR-peptide, calcium pump-ADP, haemoglobin-oxygen, gp120-CD4 viral coupling. confirmation each these suggests proposed mechanism would occur all biochemical

Signal transduction of the melatonin receptor MT1 is disrupted in breast cancer cells by electromagnetic fields.
The growth of estrogen-receptor positive breast cancer cells is inhibited by the pineal gland hormone, melatonin. Concern has been raised that power-line frequency and microwave electromagnetic fields (EMFs) could reduce the efficiency of melatonin on breast cancer cells. In this study we investigated the impact of EMFs on the signal transduction of the high-affinity receptor MT1 in parental MC...
متن کاملMolecular Wires in Electromagnetic Fields
We investigate the role of external electromagnetic fields on the conduction properties of bridged molecular wires. In particular, it is analyzed quantitatively how resonant excitations of electrons enhance the dc current and, simultaneously, lower the noise level of the current. The results from an exact numerical treatment are in good agreement with those obtained within an approximation sche...
متن کاملTheory of Gas Ionization by Intense Electromagnetic Fields
The distribution function of the electrons produced in the interaction between an intense electromagnetic wave and a neutral gas is derived and is shown to be nonequilibrium and anisotropic. By assuming that the time scale of gas ionization is much greater than the field period, it is shown that the electron distribution function formed in microwave and optical discharges has sharp anisotropy a...
متن کاملSensory transduction of weak electromagnetic fields: role of glutamate neurotransmission mediated by NMDA receptors.
Subliminal electromagnetic fields (EMFs) triggered nonlinear evoked potentials in awake but not anesthetized animals, and increased glucose metabolism in the hindbrain. Field detection occurred somewhere in the head and possibly was an unrecognized function of sensory neurons in facial skin, which synapse in the trigeminal nucleus and project to the thalamus via glutamate-dependent pathways. If...
